Recent results from the Middle Paleolithic site of Mutzig Rain, France
The Paleolithic site of Mutzig in Alsace, France, offers rare and well-preserved evidence of Middle Paleolithic human occupation, including multiple stratified layers with numerous faunal remains and lithic artifacts. Analyses suggest that Neandertals lived in a cold, steppe-like environment around 90,000 years ago, with some layers showing signs of fire use and climate variation. Since 2009, the site has been investigated as part of a collaborative research project involving various universities and institutions.
