The rock and building material collection comprises several hundred rock hand specimens of the most important rocks in Switzerland with a focal area in north-western Switzerland (including limestones, sandstones, flint, metamorphic and volcanic rocks, etc.) as well as building and working stones from archaeological contexts. These include, for example, various marbles, polished limestones and the most important building and working stones from Basel and Augusta Raurica.

The collection is available to researchers and students on request.
