The rock and building materials collection includes several hundred rock samples of the most important geological formations in Switzerland with a focus on northwestern Switzerland (including limestones, sandstones, flint, metamorphic and volcanic rocks, etc.) as well as building stones from archaeological contexts. The latter include, for example, various marbles, polished limestones, or the most important building stones from Basel and Augusta Raurica.
